Following attaining a National Diploma in Construction at Bath College Nolan gained a BA (Hons) Degree in Architecture from Portsmouth University in 1998. While working for several small practices in and around the Bristol & Bath area Nolan has acquired a wide range of experience in residential schemes for various developers and housing associations as well as individual clients. He also has a number of years experience renovating listed buildings and buildings within conservation areas including churches, country and manor houses, schools and country estates and therefore has a keen insight into the delicate nature of the integration of modern design ideas with traditional architecture. Nolan joined Percy Thomas Partnership in November 2002 where he worked on several residential schemes and Ministry of Defence projects. Nolan joined ESHA after the Percy Thomas Partnership takeover in the summer of 2004. Nolan's primary role within the company as CAD & IT manager has seen him design, administer and implement the practice's CAD standards systems as well as managing the office's computer network and reprographic facilities. Nolan has continuously developed his CAD knowledge through attending training courses in AutoCAD Architecture, Google Sketchup, Adobe applications particularly Photoshop and Microsoft office applications. He has also been involved with the detailed design of many of the practice's projects including residential and health care work.
