Chris Swann - B Sc (Hons), B Arch (Hons) - Senior Architect

Chris Swann

Chris studied at Bath University and qualified as an architect in 1978. He has practised in Bristol ever since, joining Percy Thomas Partnership in 2003 and then ESHA in 2006. Most of his work has been commercial projects taken forward from early design to completion of construction. These include offices, laboratories, data centres, specialist workshops, showrooms etc for IBM, ICI, British Airways, MoD, NatWest, Bristol University, UWE, plus various developers and local businesses. Housing has been interspersed with these projects since 1990 when his Housing Association scheme at Dulverton on the edge of Exmoor won a RIBA housing design award. Refurbishment and conservation has always been of great interest to Chris and his work converting 'The Granary' in Bristol to apartments is a prime example.

His first completed ESHA project was a housing development with social club on an elevated site with fine views in Whitchurch, Cardiff. His current work includes care homes and a research centre for the National Society for Epilepsy, a mixed use urban block in Yeovil, housing in Lincolnshire and the conversion of an Edwardian listed swimming pool in Bristol into a health centre.

Outside the office Chris busies himself cycling, skiing, fell walking and teaching dinghy sailing.
