Visualisation

At the design stage of a project it is essential that we convey our ideas clearly. One of the tools that we use for this purpose are computer generated walk-throughs or visual tours. This enables ourselves, the client, planning officers, the general public and people unfamiliar with plan drawings to see the how the project will look upon completion. Below are two examples, the fist being a walk-through of an interior space the second being a walk-though of a new town.

House in Muswell Hill, London

This walk-through video shows proposed alterations to the ground floor of an Arts and Crafts terraced house in Muswell Hill, London. The design brief was to open up almost the whole of the ground floor as one continuous space containing the living room, library/music room, dining room and galley kitchen, while keeping the decorative Arts and Crafts character. The purpose of the video was to show both the client and the architect what the space would look like in reality;and once they had seen it a number of minor adjustments were made to the design. In particular the new kitchen window was revised to harmonise better with the ornamental design of the existing window in the dining room.

Another use in creating a computer model of a project is taking still images to illustrate a particular view that may be significant or to highlight a particular detail. Below are a few examples of still images related to this project.

New Town Near Bucharest Project.

Howard Road

The brief for the site was to demolish two existing 1930's bungalows and erect a two and a half storey block of flats in keeping with the neighbouring style. To make the proposal clear to local residents and planners the client commissioned two before and after photographs of the site shown below.

Cheltenham Road Shadow Studies

One of the concerns when building nearby an existing building can be the impact of natural light, eg how does the new building affect the passage of natural light into neighbouring buildings.
Using CAD software ESHA's technicians can create a massing model, set the exact location of the site, and apply the shadows cast by the proposed buildings onto their neighbours at any time of day, month and year.
Below are some examples of a shadow study in the month of June.
