The site for this project is a unique one in a Conservation Area between Tiverton town centre and the river Exe on what was land subject to flooding. The existing buildings at the top of the site are high quality and include the Town Hall, the Library and St. George's Church as well as listed buildings along St. Andrew Street. Our design creates a new street linking the centre with the river front and creates a new square incorporating an amphitheatre as its destination. The design recognizes the complex ownerships and covenants on the site, and can be phased if necessary to suit a gradual release of land over time. The architecture, varying from formal round the square to more cottagey near St. Andrew Street, is closely based on the Tiverton tradition. The project received full Planning Permission in 2009.
