The first 60 house stage of this project, called Little Shilling, was carried out by Westbury Homes and is complete. Its urban quality and the use of the local vernacular makes it a dramatic contrast with the surrounding suburban development on the eastern edge of Shaftesbury. The subsequent masterplan for Westbury Homes, Persimmon Homes and Heron Land involves an urban extension adjacent to Little Shilling of about 800 houses and a new primary school.
