A 300 bed hospital with all main departments on the outskirts of Cairo, within half a mile of the Giza pyramids. The scheme for the Cairo Organisation for Medical Treatment was won through an international competition. The hospital is designed to suit the climate around deep shaded courtyards and is primarily naturally ventilated. The structure is designed to resist earthquake movement. Two further phases to double the capacity of the hospital have yet to be added.
