Canterbury is a city of great character with a tight medieval urban grain. The Kingsmead site is bounded by the Great Stour on three sides and benefits from an extremely attractive and sustainable location close to the centre of the city. The design establishes a new mixed use urban quarter of 205 units focused around the main square with views across the new linear park towards the Cathedral. The larger blocks of flats onto the river front are an echo of previous industrial uses in the area.
