Bristol City Housing Department commissioned PTP to carry out a complete refurbishment of Kingsley House, a 1930's block of inner city walk-up gallery access bedsit flats, to be carried out in close consultation with the residents. The design breaks down the institutional appearance of the block by the addition of new individual staircases flanked by bedrooms, giving a fresh new face to the building and a new community building has been added in the garden area. By a process of decanting, the work was carried out over three phases with most of the residents in place.
