A competition entry for the High Street and Canal Basin development of Dickens Heath, an urban extension on the edge of Birmingham. The design incorporates a balanced mixture of uses including shops, restaurants, health centre, offices and live/work townhouses. The canal is brought into the site to create a basin for narrow boats. This basin acts as the focal point of the scheme and is flanked by tall blocks of live/work units and restaurants, all in the style of robust canal warehouses.
