University of Bristol Chemistry Department dates back to the early 1960's and like many buildings of its period suffered from failure/deterioration of its cladding system. The solution was to replace the windows and to overclad with a combination of terracotta rain screen tiles to the south elevations facing the city centre and insulated silicone render to all other elevations. Thus the fabric of the building is protected, the architectural composition enhanced with bold panels of red tiling, and rich coloured murals to enliven the entrances around the courtyard.

INCA Award 'Best use of insulated render & cladding for refurbishment of commercial buildings ' 2003.
