Bishops Court completes the redevelopment of an urban block on Bishops Bridge Road, and comprises forty nine flats with underground parking. The design reflects the style of neighbouring Victorian terraces yet respects the scale and form of adjacent 1970's architecture.
While some architectural elements are taken from its neighbours, the new building is given its own individual character by lunettes at the top of the flanking gables, canopied balconies and the circular bay window on the eastern corner. Although the street elevation is almost entirely symmetrical, the adjoining seven storey flats on the eastern side of the site are reflected in the higher eastern wing of the new building.
The external materials and details follow the familiar pattern of London; while painted rusticated stucco plinth, yellow stock brickwork with stone dressings, metal balconies, long casement windows and slate roofs. A series of conservatories and terraces sited in the apex of the main roof serve the six penthouse apartments.
An existing ramp leading down to an underground car park had been something of an eyesore. This was bridged over, closing the gap in the street frontage and creating a new arched entrance for vehicles. The remainder of the ramp is covered with a small garden.
